Outdoor Kitchens and Outdoor Living in North Houston and Montgomery County
Custom outdoor kitchens, covered patios, and full outdoor living spaces built for the nine months a year you live outside in Texas
What We Build
The Part of the House You Live In Year-Round
The outdoor space behind your house can be a basic covered patio that adds shade and a ceiling fan. It can also be a full outdoor kitchen with a structural cover that makes the space genuinely usable from a humid August afternoon through a December cold front. The right build depends on how you want to use the space and how much of the year you want it to work.
The work itself ranges from a $25,000 covered patio that does its job well up to a $150,000-plus build with a full kitchen and integrated mechanical systems. Where your project lands in that range comes down to scope and finish level, and we'll walk through it with you before any deposit or contract.
The outdoor build can come together as part of a new custom home or as a stand-alone project on a house someone else built. When the outdoor work is part of the custom build, everything shares the same trades and finish standards as the rest of the home. When it's stand-alone, the construction standards are the same. The only difference is the existing house becomes the constraint we design around instead of a blank slate.
How an Outdoor Build Runs
A Tighter Version of How We Build a Custom Home
An outdoor living build runs on a shorter timeline than a custom home because the scope is contained. The conversation starts with what the space needs to do and what your budget allows. From there we walk the lot with you to look at the existing house and how the outdoor build will tie into the drainage and the utility runs.
We pull cost numbers as the design comes together the same way we do on a custom home. Every trade involved in the build gets hard-bid against your actual selections before the construction contract is signed, so you're working from real numbers, not placeholder allowances.
Construction itself usually runs four to twelve weeks depending on scope. A simple covered patio sits at the short end of that range and a full outdoor kitchen with structural cover and integrated mechanical sits at the long end. Our project manager and builder stays involved at the site through the build. Every outdoor build is backed by the same one-year labor warranty we put behind our custom homes.
Common Questions About Outdoor Living Builds
- How much does an outdoor living space cost to build?expand_more
- A basic covered patio with no kitchen tends to start around $25,000. A full outdoor kitchen with a structural cover and integrated mechanical systems can run $150,000 or more. Where your build lands in that range depends on the scope and the finish level. Our Houston Custom Home Cost Guide has the tier ranges that govern how we price all of our builds.
- Can you build an outdoor kitchen onto a home you didn't build?expand_more
- Yes. A good share of the outdoor builds we do are stand-alone projects added to homes that other builders put up. Before the design conversation gets specific we'll walk the lot with you to look at the existing slab or grade, how the drainage works, and where the utility runs come into the property.
- How long does an outdoor living build take?expand_more
- Construction usually runs four to twelve weeks depending on the scope. A simple covered patio sits at the short end of that range and a full outdoor kitchen with integrated mechanical sits at the long end. Permitting and design work add a few weeks on top of construction depending on which county your property sits in.
- What's typically included in a full outdoor kitchen build?expand_more
- A standard outdoor kitchen build includes a built-in grill, counter space in a weather-rated finish material, refrigeration, plumbing for a sink, gas and electrical runs, and overhead lighting. A higher-end build adds a smoker or pizza oven and gets paired with a structural cover, mechanical screens, ceiling fans, and finish work that ties into the rest of the house.
- Can the outdoor space be designed into a new custom home from the start?expand_more
- Yes, and it usually saves money to do it that way. When the outdoor build is part of the custom home the framing, the cover, the mechanical runs, and the finishes all share the trades and the bid process for the rest of the home. The outdoor space ends up integrated into the house instead of added on later.
- What warranty comes with a Wonderview outdoor build?expand_more
- A one-year labor warranty on the construction work and the manufacturer warranties on appliances and fixtures. The structural elements (cover framing, footings, slab) carry the same ten-year structural warranty we put behind our custom homes when they're built as part of a larger custom build.
